Walk and Talk – First social meet up a success!

The Roseworth walking group completed a 1.8 mile walk around the Tees Barrage tonight and then all went for a very nice meal and a few shandies!

It was really great to be able to sit down as a group for the first time and have a nice chat. As one of our members said “We walk and talk, but then because of Covid rules we all had to go back home. Its nice to be able to actually socialise and spend time together as a group”

We really enjoyed ourselves and we are already looking forward to the next one!

Thank you to The Talpore for hosting us and Red Balloons for organising another brilliant walk.

The group meets every Thursday, 5:30pm outside Kiora Hall. Everyone is welcome to join in

Funding Opportunity: A youth club in Roseworth

Who are Roseworth Big Local?

The Big Lottery Fund identified 150 areas that had historically ‘missed out’ on funding. Roseworth was allocated £1 million to spend in any way they chose, providing local residents organised themselves and involved the wider community.

Big Local is funded for a decade, allowing the community to take their time, make decisions and deliver change. Since 2016 local people have been making decisions and delivering change in the local community.

The Roseworth the Big Local forum is made up of people who live, work, study or volunteer in Roseworth Ward

Roseworth Big Local have funded a youth club for children and young people, living in the Roseworth Ward, aged between 6 and 14. Previously the youth club has been delivered at Kiora Hall and more recently at Redhill Family Hub on a Thursday evening.

As part of our 2021/2022 plan we would like to support the continuation of weekly youth club/youth project in Roseworth. Therefore, we are seeking quotes from suppliers to provide this service

Purpose of the Youth club / Youth Project:

  • To provide a weekly, term time only, youth club or youth project for children & young living in the Roseworth Ward.
  • To cater for ages between 6 -16, but we are open to suggestions for different groups for different age ranges.
  • To provide a variety of activities in a safe and supportive environment, allow children and young people to take part in enriching and confidence building activities.
  • Ideally a youth club/project will be provided on a Thursday evening (between 5:30pm and 7:30pm) at Redhill Family Hub to encourage continuity. Other dates, times and Roseworth venues can be considered.

The successful organisation would be expected to start their proposed project in November 2021 and will continue weekly until end May 2022. Our next big local plan review is in 2022 and we would expect a youth project, upon successful review, would have the potential to continue for a further 2 years.

What children and young people have asked for:

  • A range of age appropriate activities; suitable for younger children but also teens
  • “can we have something for just the older ones” (age 13-15)
  • Being creative
  • “maybe some dancing”

What Roseworth Big Local ask for:

  • To build the skills, capacity and confidence of Roseworth residents of all ages
  • To increase the participation of residents, particularly young people, in the decision-making processes of delivering the Roseworth Big Local Plan 2021 – 2022 and future plans.
  • To upskill local people; training volunteers and staff locally wherever possible.
  • Work towards sustainability: work with Roseworth big local and local residents to develop a sustainable future youth club.
  • You will provide references and must hold the relevant paperwork and policies to run and lead a youth club; including (but not limited to) safeguarding children, Liability Insurance and DBS checks for any staff and/or volunteers. References and copies of documents must be available two weeks before the project begins.

What is the budget?

We would expect proposals to be costed at no more than £3000.

I’m interested! How can I put forward a proposal?

Please tell us how you would meet the aims above and provide a price this service, including a breakdown of any costs, on no more than two A4 pages. We would also accept video submissions no longer than 3 minutes.
Email to:  info@roseworthbiglocal.org.uk

Proposals must be submitted Sunday 19th September 2021 at 5:00pm
These will be considered by the Roseworth big local partnership on: Thursday 23rd September 2021.
